ColourPop Eyeshadow, Highlighter, & Lippie Stix: Review + Swatches

After seeing ColourPop all over youtube & various blogs, I decided to finally order some of their products for myself. Their products are decently priced, but it adds up quickly, trust me! I wish I could have recorded my reaction to swatching these for the first time, the consistency and texture of the eyeshadows/highlighters are just so different & creamy…yet powdery? I literally said “oh my GOD” out loud the first time I swatched an eyeshadow.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows: $5.00 Each

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow – Tassel (Metallic), Girly (Pearlized), Fringe (Metallic)

My favorite out of the 3 is definitely Tassel, its the most beautiful inner corner/lid color ever! I also love Girly as a brow highlight and base color, its a little less shimmery, as you can see.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow – Liberty (Ultra-Metallic), I Heart This (Metallic), Get Lucky (Metallic)

If you like a subtle shimmer without the BAM in your face eyeshadow look, I Heart This is for you! It gives off just the perfect nude shimmer look. I’ve also been loving Get Lucky & Liberty to add that pop of color to the center of the lids!

Don’t get me wrong, these highlights are great & I do think they are worth the $8. But, in retrospect I probably should have splurged else where since I already have tons of highlighters. I don’t see these ever replacing my Mac Soft and Gentle or Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I will use them, just probably not super often. If you are looking for a cheaper, good quality highlighter, I definitely recommend checking these out!

ColourPop Highlighters: $8.00 Each

ColourPop Highliter – Stole The Show (Pearlized), Lunch Money (Pearlized), Highly Waited (Pearlized)

Stole The Show definitely stole the show for me! It’s my favorite out of the 3 with Lunch Money following closely behind. I feel like Highly Waisted is just not the right color for my skin tone, it would be really beautiful on someone who was a little darker or tan.

Yes, the famous ColourPop Lippie Stix. These were the first products I had heard of from ColourPop & I’ve been wanting to try them out for so long. I’m not really a bright lipstick kind of girl, i’m usually always wearing a nude lipstick or a pale pink. I wanted to try and step outside my comfort zone a little bit with these. But as you can see, most of them are still pretty nude or muted.

ColourPop Lippie Stix: $5.00 Each

ColourPop Lippie Stix – Cookie (Matte), Skimpy (Glossy), Bound (Glossy), BFF (Glossy), Easy (Glossy), Cupid (Hyper-Glossy)

My Favorites out of group are Skimpy, Cupid, and Easy. But I also really do like BFF and Bound. I find that Cookie is very dark looking on my pale skin. So again, if you had a darker complexion it would be fantastic for you. Often I mix Skimpy & Cupid/Easy together to get a pretty nude peachy/pink lip. I love love love the formula and pigmentation of these lippies!

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow & Blush Review & Swatches

shadows2

Back in November, I purchased 14 Makeup Geek Eyeshadows, 2 blushes, and a large Z Palette to put them in. It ended up being a pretty big purchase, $130. After hearing so many people rave about these shadows and seeing them in almost every single one of Jaclyn Hill’s Youtube videos, I decided to finally get some myself. I really had no idea of what I wanted, I looked at every single color and looked up swatches and favorites from other bloggers/youtubers. I’m really happy with the ones I picked out, and I have marked a few of my favorites for you all below. My “favorites” have a heart above the swatch, most of them I use every single day. I do love all of the colors though, just some are better for everyday wear. For some reason, I didn’t take a picture of the blushes in this palette before I started using it, but there is a swatch of them at the bottom!

Eyeshadow Pans: $5.99 each
Blush Pans: $9.99 each
Large, Black Z Palette: $20.00

firstIce Queen: Love this shade for inner corner and under the brow highlight!
Peach Smoothie: One of my all time favorites! I use this almost everyday as a transition and blending color.
Glamorous: Beautiful bronzy-shimmer color for the lid!
Cocoa Bear: Another all time fav, I personally use it in the outer edges of the eye. It’s the perfect warm-tone brown.

secondMocha: Usually use this color in my crease, and to create the “outer v” shape on smokey eyes.
Vanilla Bean: Gorgeous off-white color, looks beautiful on the inner half of the lid and under the brow.
Beaches & Cream: LOVE THIS SHADE. It’s few shades lighter than Peach Smoothie, I use this one too as a transition/all over lid color.
Creme Brulee: Another perfect warm brown color. It’s not as dark as Cocoa Bear, but very similar.

ThirdLatte: Yet another warm toned brown. Although these all seem similar, they each give a very different look when applied onto the eye.
Barcelona Beach: This one isn’t as warm in tone, and it looks really good when going for a darker eye look.
Shimma Shimma: FAVORITE inner corner highlight. It’s just so beautiful and shimmery, I LOVE it.
Cinderella: Very similar to Shimma Shimma, just tinted pink. It’s very beautiful and girly.

fourthCosmopolitan: I’ve gotten SO many compliments on this eyeshadow. I use my Mac Fix+ to wet it after I have some on a brush, and just pack it onto my lid. It looks beautiful in combination with Coca Bear!
Mercury: Although I don’t personally use this shade much, it is a really pretty space grey/silver color. I have been trying to stay away from super dark colors and black…since that is all I used to wear in high school!
Spell Bound (Blush): I fell in love with this blush the first time I used it. Its the most perfect shade for me and looks really good with the shadows I marked as favorites.
First Love (Blush): When I ordered this, I expected it to look different when actually wearing it. Personally, I don’t think this blush can be worn alone. Sometimes I mix it with a little bit of Spell Bound, or use it as a soft highlight right above Spell Bound, but never alone. It’s just way too pale in my opinion.

I’m so glad I finally ended up purchasing these. Although it can start to add up in price, in the long run you will save money because you are just buying shades that you want. I know I have tons of palettes that have 8+ colors in them and I only use 2-4. Now I can pick exactly what colors I want and when I hit pan, I can just order another one for $5.99! Can’t beat that!

Ipsy Glam Bag Subscription Review: January 2015

IMG_0189

Another month, another IPSY glam bag! I know its been awhile, I got really caught up in the holiday season but I’m back now and I can’t wait to get back into the blogging world. I received my January 2014 2015 Ipsy bag in the mail just a few days ago. If you aren’t familiar with Ipsy, feel free to check them out by clicking HERE. It’s a month subscription service that costs $10, and you receive 4-6 beauty products each month. I absolutely love ipsy and have been subscribed for two years now!

» Elizabeth Mott – All Over Shadow Brush
PINK! I was super excited to get this because you can never have enough brushes, AND it was pink. It’s super soft and dense, I will probably be using it for blending more than anything.

IMG_0193

» (MALIN+GOETZ) – Mojito Lip Balm
Excited to try this out! It has a very simple and basic formula, hopefully it won’t be as drying as other lip balms, which is ironic.

IMG_0194

» Nourish Organic – Renewing Eye Cream
I already love this brand. I’ve purchased their full size face cleanser and face lotion because of ipsy. I will definitely be using this!

IMG_0196

» Pacifica – Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow
Gorgeous color, honestly was not expecting it to be so pigmented. I’m just very guilty of never using all the single shadow pots I have…palettes are just so much more convenient.

» BelláPierre – Shimmer Powder
Ugh, yes. I was hoping to get this beautiful white shade over the other two that were being given out. This is going to look amazing as an inner corner highlight. Also, superrrrr pigmented!

IMG_0192

» Benefit – Posie Balm
BONUS ITEM! I finally stumbled upon this before it was sold out! I had over one thousand extra ipsy points that I just kept forgetting to spend. This little baby costed me 500, but better than just letting them expire, right? I was kinda disappointed because what you see here…is literally all of it. I was expecting at least a little more product. But I understand it is a sample size and it is a higher end brand. Either way, its still really cute and very moisturizing!

Thanks for reading & see you next month!

Ipsy Glam Bag Subscription: November 2014

It’s that time of the month again…IPSY BAGS have arrived! If you aren’t familiar with Ipsy, basically it is a beauty/makeup subscription service that charges $10 a month. Your $10 gets you 4-5 beauty items and an adorable bag. Some months they are awesome, and others are just a miss. This month the theme was Girl Meets Glitter, and I was quite satisfied with the products I received! I personally think it is worth the $10, the bags alone would cost you that at a store. You fill out surveys and questions about the products you receive, and then they try to give you more products that you actually like. I would definitely check it out if you haven’t already! If you want, click HERE to go to the Ipsy website via my referral link.

• Be A Bombshell Cosmetics: Eye Base- Submissive

This shade is absolutely GORGEOUS. I used it the other day before doing a neutral smokey eye, and I loved it. It’s just a very pretty bronzy-gold color with some shimmer. It’s perfect for me! Probably my favorite item from this months bag!

• J. Cat Beauty: Wonder Lip Paint- Red Potion

I’m not a red lipstick kind of girl at all. I think I’ve tried it maybe twice, and took it off immediately. I just don’t like how it looks on me, I prefer nudes, pinks, and peaches so much more. I was looking on the J. Cat Beauty website and they have tons of gorgeous colors in their Lip Paint’s. I really wish they would have given out something I would actually wear. That being said, I loved the formula and you can’t beat the price of these ($4.99)! I might end up buying a few in colors that I like just because of how awesome the product is.

•Elizabeth Mott: you’re so FINE Eyeliner- Glitterati

Okay, I’m totally down to try anything that has the word glitter in it. Basically, this liquid eyeliner is a jet black color with silver glitter in it. I really liked it for just normally lining my eyes, but when i tried to do a cat eye, it was a disaster. I will probably end up using it in the future just as a lash-line liner!

•TEMPTU: S/B Highlighter- Pink Pearl

I was SOOO excited when I saw I was getting this in my bag!! I absolutely love highlighters and this is the best liquid highlighter I’ve ever used. I really don’t like the Benefit High Beam because, for some reason, it always just messes up my makeup wherever I put it. But this TEMPTU highlighter doesn’t effect the underlying makeup at all. It’s so gorgeous and subtle too. I have a feeling I’ll be using the whole bottle very soon.

•Marc Anthony: Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray

Although getting a hairspray in your bag may seem boring, I personally love getting the little baby bottles of products. I always save mine and use them for when I travel or might need to carry one somewhere.

Be sure to check out Ipsy and get on the waiting list NOW so you too can start getting bags in the upcoming months!!

Ipsy Glam Bag Subscription: October 2014

ipsyoctober

I LOVE ipsy, it’s by far my favorite and best makeup subscription website. I’ve been subscribed for a little over a year now, and have gotten so many goodies that are definitely worth the money! If you don’t know what ipsy is, basically you pay $10 a month for a custom glambag filled with 4-5 products based on your taste profile. Sometimes you get products you love, and sometimes you don’t. But, I love trying new products and I feel like for only $10, it’s worth it to me. I also love the little collection of makeup bags that I have now! If you want to check out and join ipsy, whether you ever subscribe or not, please click HERE so I will gain points! There is a waiting list, so i suggest signing up now rather than later. Thank you in advance! wink

Here is what I received in my October 2014 ipsy bag:

 IMG_5965

KISS – iENVYbyKISS Lashes, Beyond Naturale Demi Wispies:

I was SO HAPPY when I saw these in my bag! There were other lashes that were being given out that were really unnatural looking and thick. I never would have worn them. So when I saw I got these, I was excited. I don’t wear falsies too often but when I do I will definitely be picking up these!

IMG_5962

Ayres – Patagonia Body Butter:

I like the smell of this body butter. It’s not really scented, it just has a natural fresh smell to it. I like the cute little jar it came in too!

IMG_5970

Starlooks Lip Gloss, Guilty Pleasure:

I was a little disappointed by the size of this product. In the past, Starlooks has always given full size items. But still, the lip gloss is a cute pink shade that I will certainly use.

IMG_5956

Épicé International – Purifying Exfoliant:

I loveeeeeee exfoliators! I’ve gotten a few from ipsy and have used them all. I tend to get dry skin on my nose, which can make my makeup look bad around that area. So I’m really glad I got this in my bag!

FullSizeRender-1

MicaBeauty – Mineral Eye Shadow, Harlequin:

I really do like the formula and pigment of these eyeshadows. I’m just not a fan of this color. It’s like…a metallic-y grey/green. I can see myself using it in small doses, though! I love the shimmer in the eyeshadow too.

Thanks for reading and be sure to check out ipsy!

TheBalm: Highlighter, Bronzer & Blush

If you avidly watch youtube or follow beauty bloggers, I’m sure you’ve heard of TheBalm at least once. I’ve been wanting to try their products forever….but to my knowledge they could only be purchased online so I was a bit iffy. A few weeks ago I was shopping at Kohl’s when I saw it….TheBalm products in their beauty department. After I concealed my excitement so I wouldn’t embarrass myself, I went over a went on a mini shopping spree. I decided to review a few of my favorites, and most talked about products in the collection, so here we go!

Mary-Lou Manizer: Highlighter, Shadow & Shimmer $24.00

Oh. My. Gosh. I’m in love with this product. It’s SO hard to find drugstore highlighters, or any good highlighters in general! I love the soft golden undertones and shimmer in this highlighter. I use it daily on my cheekbones, chin, cupids bow, nose, and forehead. Sometimes I even use it to highlight my brow bone and inner corner of my eyes. It’s gorgeous and versatile. Note, if you’re looking for the ‘Kim K’ bright under eye highlight, this is not your product. You are looking for a matte white/yellow powder! A little goes a long way here. Definitely my favorite TheBalm product thus far!

Hot Mama: Blush & Shadow $20.00

This blush is BEAUTIFUL. It’s a bit on the shimmery side, but thats what I like. I love these light peachy-pink colors, especially for summer! Using this alone with give your cheeks a tiny highlight, or it can be paired with the Lou Manizer’s. I could even see myself using this blush on the inner half go my eyelids. I’ve heard many people say Hot Mama is a very similar dupe for NARS Orgasm….and some even say its better. It’s worth giving this blush a try!

Bahama Mama: Bronzer, Shadow & Contour $20.00

Okay…I’m not the tannest girl around, honestly I’m probably closer to the palest girl around. A lot of bronzers look very fake and orange on me, which is not flattering. One thing I absolutely LOVEEE about Bahama Mama is….there are no orange undertones! It looks so ‘natural’ and luminous on my skin. I love using it for contouring my cheekbones, jaw, nose, forehead, and temples. I even use it to warm up the crease of my eyelid sometimes. Hands down, this is probably my new favorite bronzer of all time.

Well, Hello!

5efb6bb2c90a56def3de27b255e8b50eSo…Where do I begin? I don’t really know what I’m doing or what I want to become of this blog. I have high hopes that I’ll post frequently and effortlessly get tons of readers…but I think we all know thats not how it works. Though it would be nice. I’m just a typical girl with an unhealthy obsession with makeup and beauty. No really, I love it to the extent that I should probably talk to someone about it. Which is how I’ve found my way here. I really do hope this will not be another 1am idea (yes it is actually 1am) that will never be touched again. I just need to stay motivated!
