ColourPop Eyeshadow, Highlighter, & Lippie Stix: Review + Swatches

After seeing ColourPop all over youtube & various blogs, I decided to finally order some of their products for myself. Their products are decently priced, but it adds up quickly, trust me! I wish I could have recorded my reaction to swatching these for the first time, the consistency and texture of the eyeshadows/highlighters are just so different & creamy…yet powdery? I literally said “oh my GOD” out loud the first time I swatched an eyeshadow.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows: $5.00 Each

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow – Tassel (Metallic), Girly (Pearlized), Fringe (Metallic)

My favorite out of the 3 is definitely Tassel, its the most beautiful inner corner/lid color ever! I also love Girly as a brow highlight and base color, its a little less shimmery, as you can see.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow – Liberty (Ultra-Metallic), I Heart This (Metallic), Get Lucky (Metallic)

If you like a subtle shimmer without the BAM in your face eyeshadow look, I Heart This is for you! It gives off just the perfect nude shimmer look. I’ve also been loving Get Lucky & Liberty to add that pop of color to the center of the lids!

Don’t get me wrong, these highlights are great & I do think they are worth the $8. But, in retrospect I probably should have splurged else where since I already have tons of highlighters. I don’t see these ever replacing my Mac Soft and Gentle or Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. I will use them, just probably not super often. If you are looking for a cheaper, good quality highlighter, I definitely recommend checking these out!

ColourPop Highlighters: $8.00 Each

ColourPop Highliter – Stole The Show (Pearlized), Lunch Money (Pearlized), Highly Waited (Pearlized)

Stole The Show definitely stole the show for me! It’s my favorite out of the 3 with Lunch Money following closely behind. I feel like Highly Waisted is just not the right color for my skin tone, it would be really beautiful on someone who was a little darker or tan.

Yes, the famous ColourPop Lippie Stix. These were the first products I had heard of from ColourPop & I’ve been wanting to try them out for so long. I’m not really a bright lipstick kind of girl, i’m usually always wearing a nude lipstick or a pale pink. I wanted to try and step outside my comfort zone a little bit with these. But as you can see, most of them are still pretty nude or muted.

ColourPop Lippie Stix: $5.00 Each

ColourPop Lippie Stix – Cookie (Matte), Skimpy (Glossy), Bound (Glossy), BFF (Glossy), Easy (Glossy), Cupid (Hyper-Glossy)

My Favorites out of group are Skimpy, Cupid, and Easy. But I also really do like BFF and Bound. I find that Cookie is very dark looking on my pale skin. So again, if you had a darker complexion it would be fantastic for you. Often I mix Skimpy & Cupid/Easy together to get a pretty nude peachy/pink lip. I love love love the formula and pigmentation of these lippies!

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow & Blush Review & Swatches

shadows2

Back in November, I purchased 14 Makeup Geek Eyeshadows, 2 blushes, and a large Z Palette to put them in. It ended up being a pretty big purchase, $130. After hearing so many people rave about these shadows and seeing them in almost every single one of Jaclyn Hill’s Youtube videos, I decided to finally get some myself. I really had no idea of what I wanted, I looked at every single color and looked up swatches and favorites from other bloggers/youtubers. I’m really happy with the ones I picked out, and I have marked a few of my favorites for you all below. My “favorites” have a heart above the swatch, most of them I use every single day. I do love all of the colors though, just some are better for everyday wear. For some reason, I didn’t take a picture of the blushes in this palette before I started using it, but there is a swatch of them at the bottom!

Eyeshadow Pans: $5.99 each
Blush Pans: $9.99 each
Large, Black Z Palette: $20.00

firstIce Queen: Love this shade for inner corner and under the brow highlight!
Peach Smoothie: One of my all time favorites! I use this almost everyday as a transition and blending color.
Glamorous: Beautiful bronzy-shimmer color for the lid!
Cocoa Bear: Another all time fav, I personally use it in the outer edges of the eye. It’s the perfect warm-tone brown.

secondMocha: Usually use this color in my crease, and to create the “outer v” shape on smokey eyes.
Vanilla Bean: Gorgeous off-white color, looks beautiful on the inner half of the lid and under the brow.
Beaches & Cream: LOVE THIS SHADE. It’s few shades lighter than Peach Smoothie, I use this one too as a transition/all over lid color.
Creme Brulee: Another perfect warm brown color. It’s not as dark as Cocoa Bear, but very similar.

ThirdLatte: Yet another warm toned brown. Although these all seem similar, they each give a very different look when applied onto the eye.
Barcelona Beach: This one isn’t as warm in tone, and it looks really good when going for a darker eye look.
Shimma Shimma: FAVORITE inner corner highlight. It’s just so beautiful and shimmery, I LOVE it.
Cinderella: Very similar to Shimma Shimma, just tinted pink. It’s very beautiful and girly.

fourthCosmopolitan: I’ve gotten SO many compliments on this eyeshadow. I use my Mac Fix+ to wet it after I have some on a brush, and just pack it onto my lid. It looks beautiful in combination with Coca Bear!
Mercury: Although I don’t personally use this shade much, it is a really pretty space grey/silver color. I have been trying to stay away from super dark colors and black…since that is all I used to wear in high school!
Spell Bound (Blush): I fell in love with this blush the first time I used it. Its the most perfect shade for me and looks really good with the shadows I marked as favorites.
First Love (Blush): When I ordered this, I expected it to look different when actually wearing it. Personally, I don’t think this blush can be worn alone. Sometimes I mix it with a little bit of Spell Bound, or use it as a soft highlight right above Spell Bound, but never alone. It’s just way too pale in my opinion.

I’m so glad I finally ended up purchasing these. Although it can start to add up in price, in the long run you will save money because you are just buying shades that you want. I know I have tons of palettes that have 8+ colors in them and I only use 2-4. Now I can pick exactly what colors I want and when I hit pan, I can just order another one for $5.99! Can’t beat that!

Ready To Wear Cosmetics: Review

I recently discovered a new brand on Hautelook, Ready To Wear Cosmetics. I love Hautelook because it gives me the opportunity to try new brands for literally half the price! I purchased a blush/highlight palette and a foundation, which I will be reviewing for you here.

rtwNY

– Ready To Wear New York, Glam Collection Face Palette:

I’m in LOVEEEEEE with this little blush palette. It includes a matte pinkish apricot blush on the left, a shimmery peach blush on the right, and a beautiful shimmery gold highlighter in the middle.

Take a look at these swatches to really see how gorgeous the colors are:

swatchesNY

I’m especially loving the matte apricot blush for the fall time. I feel like its perfect for this season, just as the shimmery peach one is for summer. I could rave about the highlighter all day, it’s just so pretty when applied. You can even use these shades for eyeshadow, they are very versatile, especially the highlight color.

– Ready To Wear New York, Aqua Crème Hi-Definition Hydrating Foundation Light:

At first, I was a little freaked out by the consistency and feeling of this product. It’s 25% water, so it is REALLY hydrating as the name states. Your face will look like a wet sticky mess, but let it dry for about 5 minutes and apply a setting powder and you will look flawless. A setting powder is a MUSTTT for this product. Don’t even bother with a setting spray, powder powder powder all the way. If you don’t powder it enough you will find it smearing and moving with the littlest touch. That being said, when you get used to it, you will love it. I tend to have dry skin on my nose, and some foundations make it look flakey and cakey. But not this one, it hydrates the area and makes my face look so smooth and flawless.

If you’re ever browsing Hautelook and see Ready To Wear, I really recommend at least taking a look! Hautelook is awesome to try out new products, since they are so heavily discounted. They post new deals every single day. Just remember, they only last a few days and sell out quickly for some brands/products!

Urban Decay – Naked On The Run: Swatches & Review

naked

Ahhhh, I LOVE Urban Decay! I own every Naked palette and will probably continue to own them in the future, they are by far my most favorite eyeshadows. I pre-ordered my Naked On The Run palette from Sephora.com the day it was released. It costs $54 and includes 6 eyeshadows, blush, bronzer, lipgloss, eyeliner, and mascara. I think its an awesome palette and it’s so convenient to have it all confined to one simple case!

I know I don’t have the best quality pictures, but for what it is, the color payoff is great. I’m happy they included matte shades to balance out the shimmery ones. These colors will create an amazing smokey eye, I’m beyond excited to start using it often!

lipgloss– 0.13 oz Full-Size Naked Ultra Nourishing Gloss Lip Gloss
Sesso (rose/pink shimmer)

eyeliner– 0.03 oz 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil
Stag (deep brown satin)

mascara– 0.13 oz Perversion Mascara
Blackest Black

Overall, so far I am completely happy with this palette. At first, I thought the bronzer was going to be very light and have an orange tint to it, but when I actually tried it on it was just perfect. I love love love the blush in the palette too. The 5050 shadow is being mistaken by some people for a highlight, but it is indeed an eyeshadow. It can be used as a highlight tough, I suppose! I was super excited to get another Perversion Mascara. I previously had gotten a sample size from Ipsy and instantly fell in love with it. I’m also really stoked to try out the new Stag eyeliner. It will complement these shadows so well. Definitely worth the money for me!!

It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Palette: Review

I recently purchased the It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Palette, it was an impulse buy that I do not regret! It currently retails for about $38 at Ulta. I got mine when it was first released on QVC.com and was on sale in a bundle. I love that this palette encompasses /almost/ everything I would need to complete an everyday look. It’s perfect for travel since it is all confined in a slim case. The palette includes CC+ Bronzer, Blush, and Brightening Powder.

itcosmetics

My favorite product out of the 3 is definitely the blush! It’s a gorgeous matte pink shade that can be warn to look natural, or built up to your preference. Same with the bronzer, I’m very fair so I don’t like bronzers that are SUPER dark. This bronzer is perfect for that, especially on days I’m just going to school and don’t want to appear too over done. As for the brightening finishing powder, I don’t really notice anything, as seen in the swatch below you can’t see it much. But I do still use it under my eyes and other places I might want a subtle highlight. It doesn’t make my concealer crease or anything like that, so I like to use it as a setting powder over concealer in places that tend to become cakey.

Wantable Makeup Subscription Box: October 2014

I’ve been seeing advertisements for this new subscription box, Wantable, over the past few months. After viewing the website dozens of times, I decided to try a box with a 50% coupon they were advertising. Usually, the boxes are $40 a month, so I only paid $20 for mine. Forty bucks is reallllllllly steep….especially for 4 products that I could definitely live without! Personally, I don’t even think they were worth the $20 I paid. You are able to get partial refunds with Wantable, so you can send back the products you are not happy with. I will be returning the lip liner and nail polish for a $10 refund. Which means I am keeping the highlighter and mineral foundation, which I ‘technically’ now paid $10 for. The boxes they had in the past looked way better, so maybe this one just wasn’t for me? I wouldn’t be against trying them again, but like I said $40 is super expensive (to me at least) for items that I could possibly not even like! Even after filling out a 10 minute survey on my likes and dislikes, I’m just really disappointed!

☻ Liberty Republic Nail polish – Premonition ($14)

☻  Three Custom Color Lip Liner – Salmon ($16.50)

☻ Medusa’s Makeup Loose Highlighter ($12)

☻ Marsk Mineral Foundation – Nude ($55.20)

foundation

Marsk Mineral Foundation – Nude ($55.20)

I do like this product, it reminds me a lot of the Bare Minerals products, just for about double the price. I would consider actually buying it if it were sold in a drug store, but for $55? HA, no way! I use it more as a setting powder over blemishes than an actual foundation. It does have good coverage, which is why I like using it in certain areas!

highlighter

Medusa’s Makeup Loose Highlighter ($12)

This is definitely my favorite product from my box. It reminds me a lot of the TheBalm highlighters. I use it mostly on my cheekbones, nose, and cupids bow. It makes for a beautiful eyeshadow too! Especially on the inner tear duct. I had never heard of this brand before, but after looking them up their products are all cruelty free, made in the USA, and vegan!

lipliner

☻  Three Custom Color Lip Liner – Salmon ($16.50)

Ugh….I was so so so excited when I saw I was getting a SALMON colored lip liner. Now, does this look salmon to you? I would have expected a peachy color…not this horrendous brownish red thing! I will never ever use this color, I even tried it on and it just looked awful! I’m beyond disappointed. I feel like it was just thrown in the box because no one would actually buy it! It’s so disappointing because the formula is so creamy and smooth, I love that part of it. Just very let down by the color.

polish

Liberty Republic Nail polish – Premonition ($14)

Okay, I understand its fall and halloween is approaching. But I would have appreciated something I would actually wear. I’m not even sure what color this is, its mainly black with a tiny tint of blue. Again, something I would never even use. It seems as if all the colors from this collection are very dark too. They have a bunch of super cute colors that I would love to try one day, it just would have been nice to get one in my box!

I hope my post didn’t come off as too negative.. Like I said, I was just really disappointed. I was expecting to have a much different experience with Wantable based on their past boxes and what they were advertising. If the price wasn’t as steep, I wouldn’t be apposed to trying them out again!

TheBalm: Highlighter, Bronzer & Blush

If you avidly watch youtube or follow beauty bloggers, I’m sure you’ve heard of TheBalm at least once. I’ve been wanting to try their products forever….but to my knowledge they could only be purchased online so I was a bit iffy. A few weeks ago I was shopping at Kohl’s when I saw it….TheBalm products in their beauty department. After I concealed my excitement so I wouldn’t embarrass myself, I went over a went on a mini shopping spree. I decided to review a few of my favorites, and most talked about products in the collection, so here we go!

Mary-Lou Manizer: Highlighter, Shadow & Shimmer $24.00

Oh. My. Gosh. I’m in love with this product. It’s SO hard to find drugstore highlighters, or any good highlighters in general! I love the soft golden undertones and shimmer in this highlighter. I use it daily on my cheekbones, chin, cupids bow, nose, and forehead. Sometimes I even use it to highlight my brow bone and inner corner of my eyes. It’s gorgeous and versatile. Note, if you’re looking for the ‘Kim K’ bright under eye highlight, this is not your product. You are looking for a matte white/yellow powder! A little goes a long way here. Definitely my favorite TheBalm product thus far!

Hot Mama: Blush & Shadow $20.00

This blush is BEAUTIFUL. It’s a bit on the shimmery side, but thats what I like. I love these light peachy-pink colors, especially for summer! Using this alone with give your cheeks a tiny highlight, or it can be paired with the Lou Manizer’s. I could even see myself using this blush on the inner half go my eyelids. I’ve heard many people say Hot Mama is a very similar dupe for NARS Orgasm….and some even say its better. It’s worth giving this blush a try!

Bahama Mama: Bronzer, Shadow & Contour $20.00

Okay…I’m not the tannest girl around, honestly I’m probably closer to the palest girl around. A lot of bronzers look very fake and orange on me, which is not flattering. One thing I absolutely LOVEEE about Bahama Mama is….there are no orange undertones! It looks so ‘natural’ and luminous on my skin. I love using it for contouring my cheekbones, jaw, nose, forehead, and temples. I even use it to warm up the crease of my eyelid sometimes. Hands down, this is probably my new favorite bronzer of all time.
